Hull FC head coach Richard Agar was delighted with Sean Long's influence during the shock opening day Super League success at St Helens.
Long spent 12 illustrious years at the Merseyside outfit and he returned to his old stamping ground, helping his new team grab a memorable 32-12 victory.
To add to former boss Mick Potter's woes, Long crossed the whitewash, showing him exactly what he is missing out on.
Willie Manu, Epalahame Lauaki, Tom Briscoe and Kirk Yeaman also scored for Hull with Matt Gidley and Chris Flannery going over for the hosts.
"It was a great performance from us and we had to soak up some early pressure but handled it okay," said Agar.
"It was a strong team effort, we took our chances and it was very pleasing to see us score tries from our own half.
"There was plenty of excitement in the week but it was Longy who gave the talk to calm us down.
"That's the mark of where he is as a player and clearly showed where his focus was."
