Sean Long insists he has nothing to prove to St Helens after seeing new club Hull FC drawn to play his former employers on the first weekend of the new Super League season.

Long, 33, ended his 12-year association with Saints to take up a two-year contract with the Black & Whites at the end of the last season.

He will now face his former team-mates at Knowsley Road on the first weekend of the new campaign on Saturday, February 6.

"It doesn't matter one bit to me that my first Super League game for Hull is at Saint Helens," Long told the Hull Daily Mail.

"I know every blade of grass on that pitch so I'm laughing. I'm already looking forward to it.

"There is no pressure on me going back as I have nothing to prove to anyone across there.

"If anything the match will spur me on even more. To go back and do one on them at their place, that thought will drive me on."
