Harlequins have completed a U-turn and decided to offer a one-year contract to Lamont Bryan.
The 21-year-old Londoner was not offered a deal with the Quins first team for the Super League season just ended and spent a year in the reserves, where he finished as the team's top try-scorer.
Bryan said: "When I first signed a contract I mistakenly thought 'this is it, I've made it'.
"I've learnt a lot over the last year and understand that you have to strive and work hard for what you want.
"I'm really excited about my new deal and looking forward to rejoining the first team next season. I want to prove to everyone that I can earn a place in the squad and have set myself some very important targets."
Meanwhile, Quins coach Brian McDermott added: "Lamont's turned his career around. He deserves a lot of credit, and I'm sure we'll see more of him in first-team action next year."
