Bradford Bulls boss Steve McNamara does not want the club's fans getting carried away if they kick off the Super League season with a win. The Bulls are expected to be Grand Final contenders this term and begin their league campaign against Harlequins RL on Sunday. But McNamara wants to remind the fans at Odsal that there is no point getting too excited too early even if they do win at the Stoop this weekend.

He said: "I think the fans, together with the coaches, the players and the club, would all love to get off to a flyer but as we all know the start of the season is always very tough and very even and conditions are very tough too.

"We talk about summer rugby but realistically it's from the depth of winter through spring, into summer and then back to autumn and even winter again.

"So you have to cope with all those and they certainly come into play early season.

"What we have to remember is that it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. We would love to get the two points this week and we are aiming to do that."
