Rob Burrow has joined an ever-increasing injury list as Leeds Rhinos prepare for their Super League opener with new boys Celtic Crusaders on Friday. The England international joins Brent Webb, Danny Buderus, Ryan Bailey, Simon Worral and Ben Jones-Bishop as injuries threaten to decimate Brian McClennan's squad. Burrow has a back injury and has failed to recover in time to be fit for the defending champions' clash but McClennan is optimistic the injury won't rule him out long term.

McClennan said: "We are disappointed Rob will not be available. We had hoped he would be right. Time has beaten us this week, but we hope he will be available for next week."

There is some good news for the Rhinos, however. Half-backs Danny McGuire and Kevin Sinfield have both been passed fit to face the Crusaders after shaking off knocks sustained in the club's pre-season training camp.
