Just as the focus of world football has shifted momentum from South America to southern Europe in recent years, so our gaze has been drawn from the bikini-clad delights of Copacabana beach to those of San Sebastian in the Kingdom of Spain.
But we’re not one to covet these treasures alone. Let us introduce to you the luscious Latina Almudena Fernandez.
Hailing from Zamora in northwest Spain she began modelling at the age of 18 after starring in Elle magazine’s Supermodel of the World. Since then the diminutive brunette has blazed a beautiful trail across Europe from Madrid to Milan and Paris before setting sail for the Big Apple, gracing the covers of Grazia, GQ and Victoria Secret to name a few.
It was in New York where she has added acting to the many strings of her bow, featuring in American country crooner Willie Nelson’s 2002 hit Maria (Shut Up And Kiss Me) alongside a bearded and bewildered Luke Wilson.
As we enjoy these fruits of the Iberian Peninsula Almudena, now 34, has benevolently campaigned for us to enjoy the fruits of the world, working on environmental and sustainability projects with Greenpeace and the United Nations.
There’s only one hitch, a questionable “budding relationship” with male model Antonio Macian across the pond. As the jilted Wilson discovered at the end of Maria...Almudena’s got us “crazy for feeling so lonely”.
