In poring over the history of the Brazilian Ronaldo for a eulogy of his phenomenal career, Sport.co.uk stumbled upon his former girlfriend Susana Werner and felt her story and, more importantly, images had to be brought to your immediate attention.
The 33-year-old Brazilian model and actress has something of a fetish for footballers, having since tied the knot with Brazilian goalie Julio Cesar, and has shown some exceptional ball control of her own, having competed in the official championship of Rio de Janeiro for Fluminense.
Her three-year affair with the real Ronaldo coincided with a rollercoaster period for the Brazilian striker including a stunning 47 goals in 49 games for Sir Bobby Robson’s Barcelona, a €30.5 million move to Inter Milan, his crowning of the Ballon d’Or and, conversely, his tongue-swallowing antics ahead of the 1998 World Cup final against France.
At the time she was wowing the Stade de France crowd, Ronnie was in fits of hysterics.
Perhaps he was more worried about the state of his relationship with the Brazilian model Werner for she left him in 1999 and soon found a safer pair of hands in Ronaldo’s compatriot, the Inter Milan ‘keeper, Cesar.
The happily married couple have two children, Cauet and Giulia. That’s one boy, one girl, and if her past exploits are anything to go by, they’ll probably become football sensations in the not-too-distant future.
