Born to a white Brazilian mother and an Afro Brazilian father, Emanuela de Paula herself gleams, “I’m what we call ‘mulata’”, which roughly translates as ‘of mixed race’. Luckily for Emanuela, her caramel complexion has won her a host of suitors - including us at Sport.co.uk - and led her to become one of the most popular models on the planet.
Her interest in modelling started at an early age, when she was cast in a supermarket advert at the age of nine. Since then she has moved up in the world, taking the New York runway by storm in 2005, where she has since worn the likes of Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria’s Secret.
In 2009 Emanuela was ranked as the 7th highest earning model, taking in a reported $2.5million and is now the face of Next’s swimwear and lingerie line for the Spring 2011 range.
