Top seeds Boston Bruins saw their Stanley Cup dreams shattered by an overtime goal in game seven of their Eastern Conference semi-final against Carolina Hurricanes. Scott Walker netted the winner in a 3-2 victory as Carolina completed a remarkable comeback from 3-1 down in the series."I just went to the net and whacked one in. Didn't take much skill," Walker explained.

The Hurricanes will now play Pittsburgh Penguins for a place in the Stanley Cup finals.

Elsewhere, defending champions Detroit Red Wings secured a thrilling 4-3 win to seal their Western Conference semi-final against Anaheim Ducks by a similar 4-3 scoreline overall.

Detroit will play Chicago Blackhawks in the Conference finals, starting on Sunday.
