South Africa's Charl Schwartzel leads the way after the first round of the WGC-CA Championship at Doral, Florida.
The 25-year-old, who has already won twice on the European Tour this season, tamed the Blue Monster by firing an immaculate bogey-free round of five-under par 67, one shot better than Vijay Singh, Robert Allenby and compatriot Ernie Els.
England's Paul Casey is one of six players a shot further back, following a solid round of 69, while Luke Donald, Martin Kaymer and Padraig Harrington are all a shot worse off than Casey.
Defending champion Phil Mickelson started with a one-under par 71, as did Henrik Stenson, while the in-form Ian Poulter shot an even-par 72.
Meanwhile, the American media is abuzz about the possible return to the game of world number one Tiger Woods.
The Tavistock Cup and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in late March have both been mentioned as possible dates for a return, although later rumours suggested that Woods would return at The Masters at Augusta in early April.
