Everton's Tim Cahill will miss his team's Premier League clashes against Newcastle United, Arsenal and Manchester United after his appeal to have his red card from the Merseyside Derby and subsequent ban rescinded. The Australian midfielder was ejected in the 2-0 defeat by Mike Riley for a tackle on Xabi Alonso.A statement from the Football Association read: "At an independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Tuesday], a claim for wrongful dismissal from Everton's Tim Cahill was rejected.

"As a result, Cahill will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect.

"Cahill was shown a red card for serious foul play during Everton's match against Liverpool on 27 September."
