Vermaelen: Cesc confessed to Barca desire
Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has revealed that Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas confessed he wanted to leave the Emirates during the summer, however the Belgian international has revealed that Fabregas is completely committed to the Arsenal cause.
Fabregas was vehemently pursued by Barcelona during the summer with the Catalan giants making two offers for the Gunner’s skipper that were dismissed by the north London club. The 23-year-old was eager to join his boyhood club but was denied the opportunity by manager Arsene Wenger.
Despite a summer of speculation Fabregas’ teammate Vermaelen believes the Spanish international is 100 % committed to the current campaign:
Vermaelen said: "Cesc carries Barcelona in the heart, in his DNA. Therefore it is impossible for him to forget about them.
"He was determined to go to Barça last summer, he more or less confessed it in the dressing room. But that is passed history.
"Now he is 100 per cent ready to put his all in to a great season with Arsenal."
