Redknapp to battle Lennon and Hughes for Bellamy
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp faces a battle to sign Craig Bellamy after Celtic and Fulham were named by sports bookmakers as the favourites to land the Welsh international.
Redknapp is keen to bring Bellamy to White Hart Lane, however the player’s wages could be a stumbling block. Mark Hughes has signed the player on two occasions at Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City, and has already made contact regarding signing the pacey forward for a third time. Celtic manager Neil Lennon has also registered his interest with Bellamy already a fan favourite at Celtic Park following a successful spell in 2005 winning the Scottish Cup.
The Spurs manager Redknapp, who is keen to add to his squad, has also been linked with a move for Citizens defender Micah Richards, but is wary of building up his hopes of success. Citizens boss Roberto Mancini admitted that he could cash in on Bellamy, Roque Santa Cruz, and Stephen Ireland, however the Italian also intimated he could still keep the trio of players.
Sports bookmakers have slashed odds on Celtic and Fulham landing Bellamy with Spurs moving out to 2/1, making lilywhites and Glasgow based clubs odds-on favourites to sign the well-travelled forward.
