The agent of Rosenborg midfielder Anthony Annan has refused to rule out a summer move to Manchester United for the Ghanaian international.

Speaking to Sport.co.uk the representative for Annan Lars Petter Foddahl revealed that he was unwilling to comment on reports linking Annan with a move away from Norway and when pressed on whether there was any truth in a possible move to Manchester United Foddahl insisted that he was not able to talk about that subject.

Annan has been linked with a host of top clubs in Europe, most notably Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and French Ligue 1 side Lyon, and although his agent has received no concrete offers thus far.

The combative midfielder impressed at the World Cup for Ghana helping his country to a Quarter Final against Uruguay acting as a catalyst for increased speculation regarding his future.

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently at Norwegian club Rosenborg, having moved there in 2008 after a failed trial at Blackburn Rovers under then manager Paul Ince. Rosenborg subsequently paid £1.25 million to sign the young Ghanaian from IK Start, beating late interest from Arsene Wenger.

Annan’s agent Lars Petter Fosdahl told Sport.co.uk in an exclusive interview last week that Annan could handle a move to United:

“At the moment we are still searching and monitoring Anthony’s situation. There is interest from a few countries, and a few big clubs. It is a big ask moving from Norway to a top Premier League club, but people have succeeded in the past despite it being a massive task.

“It was only a year ago when Mame Biram Diouf went from Molde to Manchester United. I think he earned a lot of respect and he has become a more established player performing at a higher level. The move worked for him so why not?" Fosdahl did admit that there was no rush to find Annan a new club, he continued:

“We are not desperate to sell as it is not a big saga for us. Anthony is very professional, he even returned to training at Rosenborg a day earlier than expected after the World Cup. He is focused and committed to Rosenborg at the moment and very patient. At the moment a move could happen this week, or at the end of August. We will have to wait and see.”

Previous Sir Alex Ferguson purchases from the Norwegian Tippeligaen include Mame Biram Diouf and United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from Molde, plus Erik Nevland from Viking FK.
