EXCLUSIVE: Redknapp makes shock Hleb enquiry
Sport.co.uk can exclusively reveal that Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about signing former Arsenal star Aleksander Hleb. The Belarusian has attracted alleged interest from Fulham, Manchester City, and Aston Villa however Sport.co.uk understands only Tottenham Hotspur have made a formal enquiry for the player.
A source close to Hleb told Sport.co.uk that Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is the only Premier League boss to have enquired about Hleb this summer, but that there is informal interest from a number of clubs around Europe.
Hleb has been told he can leave the Nou Camp and is believed to be keen on a return to England where he enjoyed three successful seasons at Arsenal between 2005 and 2008.
The former Arsenal star has endured a miserable spell at Barcelona since leaving the Emirates in the summer of 2008. He spent last season on loan at his former club Stuttgart but has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League.
Redknapp has admitted he wants to add three players to his Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of their debut season in the Champions League, having recently failed with a bid for West Ham United’s Scott Parker. The North London based Premier League club have also been linked with Manchester City pair Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards.
