Manchester United will not be loaning out either Javier Hernandez or Federico Macheda after Sir Alex Ferguson claimed both youngsters would play an important role in the first team.
Hernandez scored on his Manchester United debut against the MLS All-Stars, a game in which Macheda netted a brace and Ferguson believes the prodigious duo not only have bundles of talent but also that little bit extra required to thrive at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United manager told Sky Sports: “I need to keep Macheda and Hernandez. There was a lot of purpose in the way they played their football.
"To play for a club like this is not just about talent. You need something else and they've got something else. I am pleased with that."
Delighted with his new signing, Ferguson suggested Hernandez is a similar player to Wayne Rooney, hinting that the aforementioned pair may not necessarily start many games together.
"If we are talking about a combination with Wayne, I think we would need to adjust a bit. They are similar types of players," Ferguson said.
"We will assess Hernandez really well and make sure we can bring him to good consistent form.
"There are still little things to do but not a great deal. One he gets used to our training I think he will be OK."
