Liverpool striker Milan Jovanovic has revealed he sought the advice from Manchester United star Nemanja Vidic before linking up with his new club after the World Cup finals.
The striker asked his Serbian teammate about the robust nature of the Premier League and how it differs from European leagues. Jovanovic suggests he is more than equipped to thrive in a league the Manchester United stalwart described as “difficult” and “physical”.
The 29-year-old was signed on a three-year deal from Standard Liege by the previous Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, but despite the departure of the Spaniard before he linked up with his new club, the Serb claims he never had any intention of not joining the Premier League giant.
The new Liverpool striker told the club’s official website: “I know it's a difficult championship here,
"Vidic told me there is a lot running, it's physical and you need quick thinking.
“That is no problem for me.
"I already feel the difference in training in English football compared to European football.
"I'm looking forward to the future and will be working hard to win trophies for Liverpool. I expect to have a very successful time here."
Although the man responsible for signing him has left the club, the striker admitted he was looking forward to working with Roy Hodgson .
He said: "Rafa Benitez was manager when I signed but the most important thing for me was being at Liverpool.
"I'm happy to play for Roy Hodgson. He's very nice and I'll try to learn and improve every day from listening to the manager's ideas.
"I am trying to learn quickly because we don't have much time."
