Manchester United’s most decorated player and the club’s record appearance holder, Ryan Giggs, maintains he still relishes every season playing for the Red Devils and suggests the moment that “special” feeling  fades he should hang up his boots.

With eleven Premier League titles and countless other honours to his name, the evergreen Welshman could be forgiven for taking things easy in the twilight of his career, but the 36-year-old Old Trafford hero suggests the thirst for further success remains as fervent as ever. Giggs admits in fact, that the few loses he has endured during his illustrious career tend to stick in the mind more than the frequent victories.

Giggs told FIFA.com: “In my first full season we lost out in the league to Leeds, that just sticks in your mind.

“It makes you more determined, and after that I had a lot of success but along the way lots of disappointments.

“It is the disappointments that keep the desire going and the hunger going.”

Alongside Sir Bobby Charlton, Giggs is widely regarded as Manchester United’s finest ever player, but has he ever considered swapping Old Trafford for the prospect of greener pastures?

"Every season you look for a challenge and I've always found that with United.” The midfielder said.

“I've obviously looked forward to every season and been happy to play for United, and United have wanted to keep me.

"I've been lucky in that respect that I've played with so many great players, so many great teams.

“I've never wanted to leave at any point.

“So it looks like I'm just going to play for one team for all the time of my career."

"Even now after all these years it's still special to play for United. Whether it would be Old Trafford or whether it's anywhere else, it's still special.

"I think when it stops being special it's time to stop playing. I still have the same passion playing for United as I did when I was 17, 18."

Giggs made his Manchester United debut against Everton at Old Trafford on 2nd March 1991 and surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s 758 appearance record on the night Sir Alex Ferguson’s side beat Chelsea to win the Champions League on 21st May 2008.
