West Ham United have confirmed they have rejected an offer for Scott Parker from their Premier League counterparts Tottenham Hotspur.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of intense media speculation over the last few weeks amid reports Liverpool and Aston Villa are both eager to sign the Upton Park talisman, however a statement on West Ham’s official website has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have opened the bidding and that they have subsequently rejected the bid.

The statement reads: “West Ham United can confirm the club has rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Scott Parker.”

“The club would like to state that regardless of the sixe of the bid, nothing will break the promise that Chairman David Sullivan made to our supporters.

“As repeatedly stated, Scott Parker is not for sale and there are no circumstances and no amount of money that will cause us to break that pledge to the fans.”

Reports yesterday suggested new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson had earmarked the England international as a potential replacement for Javier Mascherano, who has informed his employers of his desire to leave Anfield. Likewise Aston Villa have been perpetually linked with the West Ham star, with uncertainty clouding James Milner’s future, but it appears West Ham have no intention of selling a player who was instrumental in keeping the club in the Premier League last season.
