With only a month to go until the start of the new season fans up and down the country will be making room in their wardrobe for the annual addition of their club’s new replica kit. With numerous sides changing kit manufacturer and sponsor over the last couple of months this summer has seen more new shirts put on the market than ever before.  Sport.co.uk runs through all the new designs from garish (Everton bow your head in shame) to simple, from avant-garde to tradional.

Nike have restored the white sleeves to Arsenal’s home jersey while returning to yellow for the away strip. The American brand have also kept Manchester United’s home apparel simple, abandoning the experimental ‘V’ which angered many traditionalists at Old Trafford. Aston Villa fans will no doubt be pleased with their simple claret and blue number with Randy Lerner apparently keen not to rock the boat too much.

After last season’s ‘cycle shirt’ design Adidas have returned Chelsea to a V-neck while adding a splash of red to spice up the blue. Not only do Liverpool have a new manager and a new sponsor they also have two new Adidas kits with the Anfield outfit harking back to the late eighties and early nineties in both designs. The Brand with the Three Stripes has also snapped up Stoke City providing the Potters with an updated version of their usual red and white bars.

Established big-hitter Umbro have continued their ‘Tailored in England’ approach, which was honed for Fabio Capello’s England flops, by producing uncomplicated efforts for Manchester City, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion. Puma have reacted to criticism from supporters at White Hart Lane and got rid of the horrific yellow which sullied last year’s Tottenham Hotspur home shirt while also adding Newcastle United’s huge kit-wearing fan base to their portfolio.

Reebok and Le Coq Sportif Sportif continue their relationship with Bolton Wanderers and Everton respectively while Kappa take over from Nike at Fulham.

Interestingly several less well known manufacturers are starting to make head way at the top of the English game. Carbrini debut in the Premier League using designs worn by Blackpool in their successful promotion campaign, Xtep will make Birmingham City's shirts, Italians Macron take over West Ham United, MiFit have signed a deal with Wigan Athletic (shirts yet to be released) while Wolves have new shirts made by Swiss company Burrda.

All in all their is a lot to discuss. Who do you think have released the best kits this season? Has your side produced a shirt which is better or worse than last season? What do you make of clubs constantly changing designs? Do you resent buying new kits or look forward to it?

'there is one common link in every single one of these kits, home, away and third strips. everysingle one would look infinitly better without the sponsors logo. pains me to say it but i like man uniteds kit. but my beloved spurs kit is so much better than the dross we had to wear last year.'

'Our tops and Sunderlands two strips are the best. Agreed though some horrendous sponsors this year. Why do Newcastles look like they've been designed by the same 12 year old since 1995? Only one's worse I can remember are Middlesborough's!'
