Exclusive: Everton issue 'hands off warning' regarding Yakubu
Sport.co.uk understands Everton manager David Moyes has issued a 'hands off warning' to West Ham United regarding the availability of Nigerian striker Yakubu.
Yakubu, 27, struggled with form and injury last term at Goodison Park and has been linked with the exit door at the club with West Ham confirmed admirers of the forward. According to Sport.co.uk sources West Ham have enquired about the powerful striker’s availability but have received a negative response from Toffees boss David Moyes, with the Scot declaring that he does not want the Yak to leave Everton.
Yakubu joined Everton in 2007 in a deal worth a reported £11 million and has scored 32 goals in his tenure at Goodison Park having previously been at Middlesbrough and Portsmouth. West Ham United are keen on signing the player in the summer transfer window with new owners David Gold and David Sullivan making a formal approach during the transfer window. Despite Yakubu’s poor campaign last term the Everton boss David Moyes has declared that the powerful forward will not be leaving Goodison Park this summer.
A source close to Yakubu told Sport.co.uk: “There is nothing going on at the moment regarding Yakubu.
"Everton have said they do not want to sell him, and unless they change their stance he will be staying at Everton. West Ham want him, but at the moment Everton do not want to sell.”
