Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is positive that his persistent groin problem will not see his form at the World Cup affected and maintained that his natural fitness levels should help him overcome worries that he has not trained enough in the build-up to Monday’s match against Holland. The Arsenal striker missed several months of last season after pulling up in November’s north London derby with Spurs, an injury which the player claims was the result of a bad car crash in September last year.
Bendtner is pencilled in to lead the line for Denmark as they make their first appearance in the World Cup finals since 2002. A physical presence, who proved important to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in the final third of the season, the 22-year-old hitman also notched important goals in the qualification for South Africa 2010.
Speaking about the problem which has forced him to train alone, the Arsenal man made clear to homeland website www.dr.dk:
"I've been training hard with the physical trainer and I'm one of those with the best heart rate in the squad and the football side of things shouldn't be any problem."
The Danes are also thought to be worried about the fitness of highly-rated Palermo centre-back Simon Kjaer who is also struggling to be fit for the showdown with Robin van Persie and company.
