Manchester United have reportedly made Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric their number one transfer target and according to the Sun, Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to offer Michael Carrick in part exchange for the diminutive White Hart Lane talisman.
The report claims the Premier League champions are preparing a £24 million bid for the 24-year-old, after Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson earmarked the Tottenham Hotspur star as Paul Scholes’ long-term successor at Old Trafford.
The Sun suggests Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has no intention of selling the attacking midfielder, but could be persuaded by a cash-plus player offer including Manchester United’s Michael Carrick, who has fallen out of favour after a string of poor performances in some of United’s biggest games this season.
Redknapp remains a huge admirer of the Manchester United midfielder, and although Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to hold onto the player they signed from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, a large offer from Sir Alex Ferguson could tempt them in to the sale.
