Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez believes Daniel Ayala has the potential to be an Anfield great over the next few years, after the young Spaniard impressed during the club’s 4-0 win over Burnley at the weekend.
Ayala has been a mainstay in the club’s reserves throughout the season and having brought his exciting form to the Liverpool FC first team following something of an injury crisis for Rafa Benitez, the former Valencia manager has backed the 19-year-old to become a “great defender” for the club.
Liverpool FC signed the youngster from Sevilla at the start of 2007/2008 season, and having made four league appearances during the season, Rafa Benitez is hopeful of seeing plenty more of the defender in the future.
The Liverpool FC boss told the club’s official website: “Daniel has been really good for the reserves through the whole season and now he has had his opportunity in the first-team,"
"He is good in the air, he is focused all the time and he has the potential to be a great defender."
"We are really pleased with the progress he has made. Steven Fletcher is a good player and you could see that he had targeted Daniel and he tried to challenge him.”
"But he got on with it and you could see that in the second half Daniel's game improved."
