Arsenal striker Jay Simpson is reportedly an end of season target for Scottish giants Celtic with manager Tony Mowbray tipped to swoop for a player who he signed on loan while at West Bromwich Albion.
The 21-year-old is currently plying his trade at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship but looks set to return to Arsenal when the season ends before analysing his options. A star in Arsene Wenger’s Carling Cup squad last season, Simpson has been in fine fettle at Loftus road scoring 12 goals in 27 league appearances.
Desperate for first team action, Simpson could be forced to leave Arsenal before the start of next season with Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela, Eduardo, Theo Walcott and new boy Marouane Chamakh likely to be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Celtic currently have Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane on loan, but a permanent deal for the Republic of Ireland hitman could prove hard to seal. Simpson’s physical presence and pace would no doubt suit the Hoops well with the Park Head outfit looking to wrestle control of the title from Rangers.
