Bayern Munich manager Luis Van Gaal admits he is unsure if Franck Ribery will be at the club next season, but suggested the Bavarian giants should let the winger leave if he wants to. The France international has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs including Chelsea FC, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Manchester City are also monitoring the 26-year-old.
Bayern Munich boss Van Gaal suggests the player’s commitment on the field remains undiminished, but newspaper reports intimate the winger is on borrowed time at the Allianz Arena. Chelsea FC, Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly the frontrunners however Manchester United and Manchester City have in the past been strongly linked with the former Marseille star.
Ribery recently hinted he would leave the leave the club in the summer if they did not make significant progress in the Champions League, but even were that to be the case, the Frenchman appears likely to leave in the summer. Real Madrid are rumoured to have already agreed a deal to sign the player, but Ribery last week claimed both Barcelona and Chelsea FC could still sign him, which seemingly ruled out Manchester United and Manchester City.
Bayern Munich manager Luis Van Gaal told German television channel Sat.1: “If he wants to go we should sell him now, because it brings in money and is good for Bayern,"
"If I look at him doing everything to be fit for the game against Fiorentina, then I think he will stay.
"If I then read the newspapers I think he won't stay. It is difficult."
