Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Wilson Palacios has rocked Harry Redknapp by claiming he is using the North London Premier League club as a stepping stone to a ‘bigger club’. The former Wigan Athletic star admits he would love to play for Real Madrid, while Manchester United and Arsenal FC were both linked with the player prior to his move to White Hart Lane.
The Honduran international has been one of Tottenham Hotspur’s best players this season and has cut a hugely impressive figure in Harry Redknapp’s midfielder since being signed in January 2009 for a reputed £12 million. The 25-year-old admits he is very happy at Spurs but suggests he is hoping his form for Harry Redknapp’s top four chasing side can ignite interest from bigger clubs around Europe. The tough-tackling star is hugely admired by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, while prior to the player’s move to England in 2007, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recommended Palacios to then Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce.
Although a move to Manchester United or Arsenal FC is extremely unlikely , the Tottenham Hotspur star claims he dreams of moving to Real Madrid and suggests he using Harry Redknapp’s side as a stepping stone to a bigger club.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder told the Sun: “I am really happy at Tottenham but I will continue working for a future move to a bigger club."
“I would like to play for Real Madrid.”
“Today, many people respect me in England. That's because of my hard-working attitude."
