Fabio Capello has told John Terry to forget about the possibility of captaining England again during his managerial reign.

Terry was stripped of the international armband by a decisive Capello after allegations emerged about his private life earlier in the month.

The Chelsea skipper has found himself in the media spotlight following allegations of an extra-marital affair with the former girlfriend of ex-Blues and England team-mate Wayne Bridge.

Capello acted swiftly after removing Terry as his captain during the height of the media furore, but the episode has returned to the fore in recent days following Bridge's admission that he no longer feels able to play for England ahead of the World Cup.

Bridge snubbed a handshake from Terry before his Manchester City side won 4-2 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and Terry has now been told by Capello that he will never lead his country again during his reign.

Capello said in the News of the World: "As long as I am England manager, I don't think John Terry will be captain again.

"The problem between John Terry and Wayne Bridge was not good and that is the only reason he is no longer captain.

"I expect my captain to be responsible to children and for the fans. I told him all of this."

Meanwhile, Capello insists the mood in the England camp remains good ahead of the World Cup and believes Terry still has a key role to play in South Africa.

He added: "I have asked Terry to be the same as before because he is a leader, but the situation with Bridge was not good. When I spoke with Terry, he understood everything. I know exactly what happened.

"Terry is a leader of men, even without the armband. I hope this is the end of the problem because it is not good for the fans or the players.

"The spirit of the group remains the same. I'm not interested in this problem any more and my only concern now is that the best players are fit."
