Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has told Arsenal captain and talismanic midfielder Cesc Fabregas to forget any rumours linking him with a return to Spain and former club Barcelona, and concentrate on firing Arsenal to the Premier League title.

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move back to Barcelona consistently for the last two years, with a number of Barcelona staff and players revealing that Gunner’s skipper will join the Catalan club at some point in the future.

A plethora pundits are suggesting that this summer after the World Cup Fabregas could leave the Emirates, however his international coach has asked Fabregas to concentrate on Arsenal and forget rumours linking him with a move back home.

The former Real Madrid coach and current Spain manager Del Bosque was quoted as saying on Wednesday: “We want him to concentrate on playing and not a transfer." The news will come as a boost following reports in the Spanish media earlier this week that the nation would rejoice if Fabregas chose to return to Spain with his first club Barcelona.

Meanwhile former Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes that Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas will stay at Arsenal despite intense interest from Spanish giants Barcelona. Fabregas has been courted by the Catalan club for the last three years, with Arsene Wenger remaining resolute on his stance regarding the transfer rumours.

The Arsenal invincible and Arsene Wenger signing Robert Pires believes that the Gunner’s will hold onto their star, as Wenger is not interested in cashing in on his best players. Wenger has repeatedly rejected overtures from Barcelona, however speculation recently suggested that Fabregas was ready to end his six year tenure at the North London club.??

Wenger signed Robert Pires from Marseille for a fee in the region of £6 million in 2000, beating off interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Pires went on to make 189 appearances for the Gunners scoring 62 goals.

The winger who also played alongside Cesc Fabregas in his last season is confident the Gunner’s skipper will stay at Arsenal.??

"Wenger will not be convinced by money. He always wants his best players," Pires told Sport. ??"At Arsenal, he is the captain and Wenger has confidence in him, and that is important because he knows he will play. At Barca it is more difficult. You must choose and it is complicated."

But Pires added: "Barcelona have a smart president and if they want a transfer they’ll get it."
