Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has denied press reports that he attempted to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen on deadline day.
The Daily Telegraph claimed this week that the Danish international was nearly signed as a stop-gap for the rest of the season with the Arsenal coaching staff reportedly unhappy with the form of Manuel Almunia and unsure of the capability of back-ups Vito Mannone and Lukasz Fabianski to marshall the Gunners defence.
Speaking to the press ahead of Arsenal’s match with Liverpool, Wenger curtly responded that he had not shown any interest in the Potters stopper.
“No. No,” stressed Wenger.
The French tactician also remained coy on suggestions that Arsenal were in negotiations with Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, with the 26-year-old free to sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer move.
