Franck Ribery’s agent claims it would be ‘phenomenal’ to see the Bayern Munich ace line up alongside Lionel Messi for Barcelona. The France international has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, yet reports intimate the player has all but agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer; speculation Ribery’s advisors fervently deny.
The former Marseille star’s contract at Bayern Munich expires in June 2011 and it is widely expected that Ribery will leave the Allianz Arena this summer. The 26-year-old has been coveted by Chelsea and Manchester City most recently with the player likely to cost in excess of £35 million and it appeared his agent, Alain Migliaccio, was reluctant to rule a move to any of the aforementioned sides. Reports in Spain continue to suggest that a pre-contract agreement has been signed with Real Madrid, yet Migliaccio suggested to the contrary, intimating Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City were all in the running.
Although reluctant to rule out any potential suitors, the player’s agent dropped the biggest hint yet as to where the brilliant Frenchman would like to play. Despite reputed interest from Real Madrid and indeed Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City, Migliaccio admitted it would be something to behold to see Ribery line up alongside Lionel Messi for Barcelona one day.
Migliaccio told Spanish publication Sport: “We do not close any doors,"
"First we will talk with Bayern [Munich] and then we'll see,”
When asked about interest from Barcelona and the prospect of playing with the current European Player of the Year, Migliaccio added: “It would be phenomenal.”
