Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has praised the growing influence of Wayne Rooney, claiming the 24-year-old is a dream to play with. Rooney scored his 20th Premier League goal of prolific campaign against Arsenal on Sunday to narrow the game on Chelsea to one point, and the evergreen Welshman suggests the England star is easy to play with because he always makes the right run.

Rooney followed up four goals against Hull City and the third against Manchester City midweek with a superb goal against Arsenal at the Emirates yesterday, and Giggs intimates his Manchester United colleague is blessed with all the hallmarks of a great player.

The Manchester United star took his overall tally for the season to 21 goals, 20 of which have helped Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to maintain their Premier League challenge on Chelsea, and such is the former Everton youngster’s movement, it makes his own job easier.

The Manchester United legend told Esquire magazine: “If Wayne (Rooney) makes a run, I know where he is going more often than not because he’s such an intelligent player.”

“He shows me where to put the ball, rather than the other way round.”

“He’s got unbelievable physical attributes.”

“He’s strong, he’s quick but he’s also a very clever footballer.”
