Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor took the plaudits from boss Martin O'Neill after he netted both goals in an excellent 2-0 win at Fulham.
The 23-year-old England international had found the net just once in his previous eight games, before his double against the Cottagers took his season's tally to 12.
O'Neill told Sky Sports: "If you'd had a chance to see him playing on Wednesday night, I thought he was absolutely fantastic against a top-class defence in the Arsenal game.
"I thought he got the merits today. He scored the goals, I thought he took them magnificently - the second goal was just absolute class.
"He has actually been fantastic for us, really fantastic. He's a centre-forward, I think that he feels himself now that his overall game has improved immensely.
"The ability to hold the ball up, the ability to go beyond players and today his goals will give him that extra boost of confidence, because whatever you say about it, strikers do like to score goals."
