Wizards set to sign former Tottenham legend
Major League Soccer side Kansas City Wizards are reportedly close to securing the signing of former England international and Tottenham Hotspur legend Ian Walker. According to Kansas based website the Back Post.
Walker, 38, the son of former Wales goalkeeper and Norwich and Everton manager Mike Walker, has been on trial with the Wizards for the past two weeks and has impressed the Wizard’s coaching staff. The MLS side are desperately searching to sign a number two goalkeeper.
Walker made 250 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur being the clubs number 1 for the bulk of his time at the North London club before signing for Leicester City when then manager George Graham signed Neil Sullivan from Wimbledon.
Tottenham fans took a shine to Ian Walker for his trademark floppy hair and his playboy lifestyle. Walker was one of the first footballer’s to have there private life thrust into the public eye when he married model Suzi Walker. However the bubble burst for the Spurs goalkeeper when he cheated on his wife with a stripper in Las Vegas.
Walker made four appearances for England.
