Reputed Arsenal target Gregory van der Wiel has admitted he would relish a move to the Premier League in the near future. The Ajax and Holland international claims he has spoken to his compatriot, Robin van Persie, about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger in particular, and is hopeful he may be able to join the striker at the Emirates after the World Cup. The 21-year-old is one of the most sought after youngsters on the continent and has also been linked with Liverpool, Manchester City and Juventus.
Van der Wiel told Dutch publication De Telegraaf today: “To develop I need to play well at the World Cup.”
“That’s really all that counts now. Of course I want to play for a big club in Europe.”
“Of course it’s nice to read that Arsenal are interested.”
“I consider myself a good fit for the Premier League.”
“Robin van Persie has told me many good stories about the Premier League, Arsenal and Mr Wenger, maybe he can put in a good word for me.”
