Gary Neville believes the club’s current crop of youngsters must seize their chance at Manchester United because ultimately only they can prove they have it what it takes to play at Old Trafford. The 34-year-old admits the senior players at the Premier League champions’ are more than willing to help out the club’s starlets during matches, but admitted most of their development is left up to the individual. Sir Alex Ferguson’s latest batch of fledgling footballers will get another chance to impress tomorrow night, when Tottenham visit for the Carling Cup, and Neville suggested they must take the opportunity presented to them.
Neville told The Daily Mirror: “You don't get too much said to you by the senior players, to be honest.”
“You have to do it yourself,”
“You do get help on the pitch, but it's a tough school here and you've got to make your own mark.”
“As a young player you've got to take your opportunities when they come along.”
“The young players know the expectations. The fans let you know what those are.”
“The manager does, too. You are surrounded by it all the time at Old Trafford.”
