He may have special skills, but Ronaldo needs time
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has urged supporters at the Bernabeu to allow Cristiano Ronaldo time to reintegrate into the team following the Portuguese star’s prolonged period on the sidelines. The former Manchester United attacking midfielder made an terrfic start to life in La Liga before injury, sustained against Marseille in the Champions League, curtailed his progress. Speaking about having their £80m man back in the starting line-up for tonight’s match against FC Zurich, ex-Liverpool man Alonso stated:
"Cristiano is a crucial player thanks to his special skills, but he will nevertheless need time to adapt again after missing so many games.
"We know he is important, but we can’t expect him to be 100 per cent fit right now."
