Former Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell has heaped praise on Arsene Wenger for allowing him to use the Gunners’ Hertfordshire training facilities as he looks to secure a move to Newcastle United in January. Campbell is currently without a club having quit Notts County in an infamously short-lived spell with the League Two side.
Speaking about the latest round of speculation linking him with the Magpies, the ex-England international told Sky Sports News:
"It [Newcastle] would be a great move for me.
"But who knows - hopefully people will sort things behind the scenes and I will get going and play football, which is all I want to do."
Campbell is currently staying fit by training with Arsenal, who he is very thankful to.
"I am training at Arsenal and keeping fit, which is the main thing and that is fantastic," he continued.
"I needed to train somewhere, Arsene [Wenger] has done me a great favour and you can't do any better than Arsenal."
