Real Madrid star Kaka believes England have a great chance of winning the World Cup because they have a glut of quality players in the Premier League, not least Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. The Brazilian claims Gerrard is the complete midfielder who is the ideal template for the modern footballer. England face Brazil on Saturday and although the Anfield talisman will be missing, Kaka will still come up against the likes of Chelsea’s Frank Lampard and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

Kaka told the Guardian: “England have always had individually strong players and I am a huge fan of Stevie Gerrard,”
.
“He has the heart of a lion and is the icon of the modern footballer with his ability to attack and defend so well.”

The former AC Milan star claimed England were more than capable of winning the World Cup next summer, but like any team they would require luck to do so.

Kaka continued: “The World Cup is a competition in which everything needs to work for your advantage.”

“Players need to be fit, decisions have to go in your favour and details such as a red card can cost a team dearly.”

“I have no doubts that England can do it,”

'It hurts to say it but kaka has a point. This man is Liverpool FC, a great leader and a phenominal player. Let's be honest we need a Gerrard in midfield for us. Carrick's ok but no Gerrard. '

'Kaka is right. Gerrard is a superb example of what playing for a team is all about. Gary Neville is our closest example but he's past it now. Gerrard kicked Roy Keane all over the pitch and nailed Ronaldo in every tackle. Fair play, the lad is excellent. He's an inspiration for Liverpool and we could do with someone like that. Keane was probably the closest we came to it but at the moment we haven't got anyone. '
