Chelsea star Frank Lampard believes England have the personnel to win next summer’s World Cup. Sighting Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney as the main reason, Lampard also mentioned Rio Ferdinand, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, and his Stamford Bridge teammate John Terry as players capable of playing for any team in the world.

Lampard told ZOO magazine: “We should believe in ourselves because personnel-wise, our players have the talent to match anyone - including Brazil.”

“We’ve got top, top players, some of the best in the world.”

“You’re talking about Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand.”

“Those guys could be compared to any player in the world and I am absolutely sure Brazil would want them in their team.”

When pressed to say who England’s best player was, the former West Ham star added: “I would say Rooney because he is the one who can make special things happen.”

“He’s the most talented guy in our team and the best I’ve played with for England. He can create and score goals out of nothing.”

“John Terry is the best defender I have ever played with and Steven Gerrard has got everything, he’s a complete midfield player, the stand-out one in England.”
