Sport.co.uk doesn’t like to kick a man when he’s down, but it’s almost impossible not to talk about the knife edge on which Rafael Benitez’s Liverpool career is teetering. Having lost six games in the last seven outings, seen their domestic title-aspirations take a battering and watched stuttering performances in the Champions League, it’s safe to say that the Reds faithful are not in the best of moods. This season was supposed to be the year that Premier League silverware was finally paraded at Anfield, but having failed to recruit suitable back-up for Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard during the summer and having crashed on the opening day of the season to Tottenham Hotspur, things have only gone from bad to worse.

With calls in the media and on fan forums for the Spaniard to finally get the chop, today we ask:

Who should replace Rafael Benitez in the Liverpool dugout?

'King Kenny is the man. He's been patiently waiting for his chance to come back to LFC for the past couple of years. Few have his experience, knowledge and more importantly...Liverpool success!'

'I am a Spurs fan but I'll throw in my penny's worth... For me the best choice would be Martin O'neil, as he has all the right credentials. Make no mistake a change needs to be made to change Liverpool's fortunes, a club that size shouldn't be losing 5 PL games in 11? Rafa has to go!'

'Sack Rafa now. He's a big waste of money and time. Put Dalglish in immediately'

'Oh come off it. Any fan with even a modicum of common sense can see through the rubbish here to the truth that lies behind it. If Liverpool get rid of Rafa, Liverpool will take a massive step backwards and take at least another 5 years to get where they are. They have just came 2nd with their highest ever prem points tally, they have just made their highest scoring start to the league. Don't believe the negatives peddled by the press, who for some reason have never taken to Benitez, despite winning the CL in his first season, getting to another CL final and giving Liverpool a team capable of competing. Stick with this man, he's one of the greats.. see past the bias media, who have an agenda and will love to see him leave and Liverpool struggle for the foreseeable future. Ignore current results, this can all be turned around.'
