Wenger won't condemn Adebayor
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims a lack of composure in front of goal was all that stopped them from taking something from Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Manchester City.
The Gunners have now lost at the hands of City and neighbours Manchester United in their last two matches, but Wenger does not accept that his side were second best on either occasion.
"Unfortunately, we are going home with the same feeling," said Wenger, reflecting on the trip to Old Trafford before the international break which resulted in a 2-1 defeat.
"Considering the way the two teams played and the number of shots we both had, we should have done much better.
"In the second half, I felt we were in control, so the result is a bit difficult to take."
Meanwhile, Wenger refused to condemn Emmanuel Adebayor despite the former Gunners striker leaving Robin van Persie with a facial injury.
Adebayor, who left the Emirates Stadium for City in a £25million deal in the summer, also scored against his former club before controversially celebrating in front of the travelling fans.
"I don't want to assess his performance as he's not my player," explained Wenger.
"I haven't seen the incident with can Persie. I will have to look at it and assess it.
"The celebration was not of the biggest elegance, but that's out of my control."
