Fulham v Everton: Match Preview
Fulham entertain Everton at Craven Cottage on Sunday as England's two UEFA Europa League representatives lock horns.Roy Hodgson's men will be keen to turn around a recent run of three consecutive defeats, although one of those was at Amkar Perm during their European qualifying campaign. They also came unstuck at home to leaders Chelsea and away at Aston Villa.
The Cottagers will be looking for the inspirational midfield duo of Clint Dempsey and Zoltan Gera to kick-start their Premier League campaign with new signing Damien Duff also eager to impress.
They are still without the injured Bobby Zamora (Achilles), Danny Murphy (calf), Andy Johnson (shoulder) and Simon Davies (ankle).
David Moyes' Everton side will have been glad to see the international break come along when it did as it has allowed for the dust to settle on Joleon Lescott's departure.
After a disastrous start to their own campaign, losing 6-1 at home to Arsenal and 1-0 at newly-promoted Burnley, the Toffees recorded a much-needed win at home to Wigan Athletic to release some pressure on the management.
Much will rest on the shoulders of dynamic midfielders Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill while strikers Louis Saha and Jo will be looking to get among the goals if they are to leave the capital with a result.
Moyes is still without Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka (both cruciate ligament) and Victor Anichebe (knee).
Last season a late headed goal by former Fulham man Louis Saha proved to be the match-winner for Everton at Goodison Park in a 1-0 victory.
At Craven Cottage, the Blues took the spoils once again with diminutive midfielder Leon Osman scoring a brace to end a 43-year winless streak for the Merseyside club at Fulham.
The clash could be a tight affair and it will be a good workout for both sides as they prepare for their Europa League fixtures next week.
