Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly about to hand out a document to his expensively assembled squad, outlining eight basic rules the club expect the likes of former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo and ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso to adhere to.
According to Spanish publication Marca the rulebook includes the following: “To be punctual when attending an event, to be close to the fans, to respect all sections of the club, to promote the culture of effort, to avoid situations where health is at risk, a ban on nights out, to look after kit and to work with the club and the press.”
Perez’s last reign as president was littered with player indiscretion off the field, amid criticism the charismatic Spaniard shared a too cozy relationship with his players. The move is designed to not only keep Madrid’s PR machine running smoothly but also to allow Manuel Pellegrini to concentrate on football matters only.
