Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh appears to finally be at peace with the fact he is staying in the French top flight after a summer of speculation which has seen the Moroccan international flirt with numerous Premier League clubs including Arsenal, West Ham United, Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland. Speaking in the aftermath of another stunning 4-0 win for Laurent Blanc’s men, in Chamakh laid on goals for lynchpin Yoann Gourcuff, the player revealed to L’Equipe:
“It was magnificent, truly enormous.
“When I play a game, I do my maximum. I have good feelings. I am happy and I hope it will last.”
“I am not truly fixed until August 31,” he explained when asked about his situation.
“I stick to what I said in that the balance is that I will stay with Bordeaux. I rejected West Ham. Frankly, there’s no comparison.
“With games like that, victories and a solid group there is everything to make me happy. The support of the other players has given me great pleasure. Everyone insists I stay. For now, I tell you, it’s gone.”
Chamakh has scored three goals in three league games, helping Bordeaux to an unmatched 100 percent record in Ligue 1.
