Aston Villa are ready offer Tottenham £7 million for reputed Liverpool, Everton and Inter Milan target Jermaine Jenas according to the Daily Mirror.
The former Newcastle United midfielder has been the subject of intense speculation all summer, despite Harry Redknapp being mystified by reports due to his reluctance to sell, however Martin O’Neill is ready to test his Premier League counterpart’s resolve with an opening bid of £7 million.
Stilian Petrov’s injury has pressed O’Neill into action and with Jenas likely to find first team places hard to come by at White Hart Lane, competing with the likes of Wilson Palacios, Tom Huddlestone, and potentially Luca Modric, the ex-Nottingham Forest player may well decide to take up Gareth Barry’s mantle at Villa Park.
Although there are inevitable obstructions still to over come, notably Tottenham’s £10 million valuation of the player, the Mirror suggests Jenas could well on the move soon.
