Wolves have completed the signing of one defender in Ronald Zubar and offered a trial to another. Zubar, 24, has joined the Premier League new-boys from Marseille on a four-year contract.

Meanwhile, veteran former Celtic defender Bobo Balde has been invited on the club's pre-season tour to Australia.

"Ronald is a quick, powerful defender who has played for the French Under-21s and has got Champions League experience as well," manager Mick McCarthy told the club's official website.

"He will prove a valuable addition to the squad and I'm very much looking forward to working with him."

Guadalupe-born Zubar played against Liverpool in the Champions League last year and chief executive Jez Moxey is delighted with the acquisition.

He added: "From the very outset Mick wanted to sign Ronald and it's been difficult and challenging because there was competition for him and it was another international transfer which are never easy.

"Coming to Wolves in the Premier League won't faze him and he is a genuine guy who is very excited about being here."
