Paris Saint Germain forward Guillaume Hoarau, dubbed the "New Benzema" by French Footbal journalists, has ended speculation linking him with a move away from France by signing a new deal that keeps him at the Parc Des Princes until 2013. Hoarau had been courted by Everton, Aston Villa, Spurs and Arsenal in the last six months, and the player admitted he had recieved offers to move, but he revealed he stayed in Paris because he felt wanted by the club.

Talking to the PSG official website Hoarau said:

"There were other offers for me but I got the feeling that PSG were doing everything they could to keep me. I've been here for a year and I know my way around. It was important for me to have some continuity and to be able to focus on events on the pitch.

"It's important for the club to know that they can count on the players and with me there's no problem. There was a slightly bizarre environment towards the end of last season. I could have looked elsewhere if I'd wanted to. But I'm happy in Paris and I need to be surrounded by an entourage I know well.

"I didn't want to leave. Not having qualified for European football could have pushed me towards the exit because I'm 25 and I don't have much time to lose. But the club swore to me that they're doing all they can to get a great team together in an attempt to finish in the top three next season."
