Arsenal target Felipe Melo is on the verge of leaving Fiorentina, according to his team-mate Alberto Gilardino. Arsene Wenger wants to add some steel to his midfield and has earmarked the Brazilianas the man to help his Premier League title bid next season.Melo, 25, has started every game of Brazil's Confederation Cup campaign and a £15million bid from Arsenal is in the pipeline.

Fiorentina striker Gilardino expects Melo to leave Italy this summer, paving the way for a move to the Emirates.

"I have not spoken with Melo directly. He played well against Italy (during Brazil's 3-0 win) and he is an excellent player, but I have the feeling he will be sold," Gilardino said.
