The agent of Swiss international Gokhan Inler has made clear that his client will not be moving to Arsenal by stressing that Arsene Wenger no longer has any interest in securing the 24-year-old’s services. The midfield enforcer has been touted, along with Fiorentina’s Felipe Melo, as the answer to Wenger’s conundrum in the heart of the Gunners midfield but it appears that only the Brazilian remains on the radar.
Speaking exclusively to sport.co.uk, Inler’s representative Dino Lamberti stressed that despite conversations with the French coach last summer, there had been no follow up:
“No, these stories are false. I’m sure Arsene Wenger doesn’t want Gokhan anymore.
“He [Inler] has two or three offers but I don’t know about any specifics. I have to wait three weeks before being able to clarify whether he goes or stays.
“I think when a good offer from a good club is tabled he’ll think about it. He wants to play Champions League football.
“Moving abroad is not a problem, he’ll look at the club not the country whether it’s Italy or Germany.
“For him it’s important that the club plays Champions League football, and that the club really want him.”
